How to Choose an SFW AI Girlfriend App: A Buying Checklist
This guide does not rank apps. It gives you a set of questions you can ask of any AI girlfriend app, including ours, so you can decide with evidence instead of marketing.

What SFW means here
In this guide, SFW means the everyday tone of the conversation is non-explicit: warm, flirtatious at most, focused on talk rather than graphic content. It does not mean child-safe. A service for adult companions should be 18+, should say so clearly, and should be honest about what its content rules are.
DreamGirlFriends.AI is for adults 18 and over, and every companion is a fictional, AI-generated persona. Read an app's own content rules rather than assuming a label tells you the full story.
The checklist
Spend ten minutes on the public pages of any app before you create an account. Write down what you find, and note anything you could not find.
- Age policy: is the service clearly 18+, and is that stated in the terms and on the entry screen?
- Fiction disclosure: does it say plainly that the characters are AI and fictional?
- Privacy policy: does it name the vendors that process your messages, and say what happens when you delete a chat or an account?
- Memory: does it describe what is remembered, and can you view, edit or delete it?
- Pricing: can you see what is free and what is paid before entering payment details?
- Cancellation and refunds: are the rules written down in the terms in plain language?
- Honesty about limits: does the app admit that AI replies can be wrong or inconsistent?
Warning signs worth noticing
Be cautious when an app promises that its companion will never forget anything, that your data is untouchable, or that it is guaranteed safe. No AI service can honestly promise these. Be equally cautious when the privacy page is vague about which companies handle your conversations.
Also notice pressure. Countdown timers, guilt-trip messages from the character about cancelling, or a paywall that appears mid-sentence are all signals about how the business treats you.
Run your own short trial
Use the free tier, if there is one, for a few sessions. Tell the companion two or three small facts, such as a hobby and a dislike, then come back the next day and see what carries over. Our guide to testing memory describes a repeatable way to do this.
Finally, check the exit. Find the account deletion option before you need it. If you cannot find it in two minutes, that tells you something.
